Amber Heard has died, her manager said Saturday.
She was 83.
She had been diagnosed with cancer in August and had been battling it for months.
She was the eldest of four children.
Her sister, Tessa, was the oldest of her seven children.
She had been the subject of a restraining order by a man accused of molesting her when she was 11 years old.
Her mother, Jocelyn, said she and her husband, Danny, had moved to New York when Amber was 7 and were living in the Bronx, where she was raised.
She died in her sleep, Joceslyn said in a statement.
She is survived by her husband of 26 years, Danny.
Her brother, Danny Jett, said he is devastated by the news and that he is praying for the family.TMZ reported that Amber had been in the hospital since September but it is not clear if she was in the ICU or on ventilator.
It is unclear if she had surgery.
Her manager, Kevin Cusick, said Amber had undergone a lung transplant.
She would be missed by her many fans.
